On behalf of the Verbier Green Pioneering Summit Steering Committee, we would like to invite you you to participate in the 3rd Edition of the Verbier GPS and the launch of the World Mountain Forum. Live links will host virtual meetings on four continents: continents, such as Kathmandu in the Himalayas, Lima in the Andes, Whistler in the Canadian Rockies and Verbier in the Swiss Alps.
The three-day event welcomes guests of all ages. Throughout these 3 days, participants and visitors will experience and contribute to a celebration of the mountain’s natural beauty, and hear about how communities meet the challenges of conserving these precious resources. Speakers and participants will engage in lively discussions about how how to develop projects to ensure partnership between the private and public sectors, and how together to incubate projects that will ensure the sustainability of our mountains.

VERBIER St-Bernard is pleased to announce the first Harley Davidson Festival ever organized will take place September 2-4, 2011. Three days of music, events, food and fun set in one of the most dramatic backdrops of the Swiss Alps.

The roar of a unique collection of beautiful bikes will echo along the picturesque roads of the area: Going though the heart of the Val de Bagnes to the Mauvoison dam, a tour around the lake of Champex-Lac, and of course a ride up to the mythical Saint Bernard pass.

The village of the Verbier Bike Fest will be located in the heart of Verbier and will welcome all bikers to celebrate in the legendary Alpine Village.

The world’s greatest classical music artists will be in Verbier for two amazing weeks at the 18th Verbier Festival! The programme features a variety of musical shows, from the splendour of symphonic masterpieces to more intimate recitals.

Although the focus is firmly on classical music, the event also features some jazz and world music. Including free concerts in bars and cafes, rehearsals and open workshops, concerts and conferences, to entertain music lovers and spectators from all over the world.

This year’s line-up includes Charles Dutoit and the Verbier Festival Orchestra, Martha Argerich, Yuja Wang, Evgeny Kissin, Hélène Grimaud, Daniel Hope, Joshua Bell and Sarah Chang. 2010 looks set to be an exceptional vintage!

Other activities are organised around the event:

Calling all young talent: the Verbier Festival Academy organises master classes led by international stars, which are open to the public! Every day at 4.30 pm, aspiring performers have a chance to showcase their talent at a free concert.

Two orchestras - the Verbier Festival Orchestra and the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra – will be performing at different events. The first orchestra features talented young musicians, while the second is made up of former members of the Verbier Festival Orchestra.

Verbier Festival Discovery organises a range of fun activities and workshops for children.

Fest’Off! In the streets or on mountain pastures, keep your eyes and ears open: you never know where you might come across a group or a musician...

Do you enjoy long-distance running and beautiful scenery? Then don’t miss the next edition of the Trail Verbier St-Bernard! In the heart of the Combins mountains, the route crosses five valleys and seven villages.

There are two alternative routes:

La Boucle, 110 km, Verbier-return, with an altitude difference of 6900 m.
La Traversée, 61 km between La Fouly and Verbier, with an altitude difference of 4,000 m.

The North Face ® Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc ®, of which this latest edition is scheduled from August 22nd to 28th 2011, is reserved for elite athletes. The UTMB ®, 166 km in a single run, crossing 10 mountain passes at 2,000 metres or more, and a height gain of 9,400 metres, is one of the world’s most famous mountain races.
